Synopsis

Young-soo has a strange encounter on the way back from the sanatorium where he left his mother.

Director's Comment

Where is the resting place for sick old man? Supporting elderly parents has recently become one of the biggest problem. Especially it’s a serious social problem in Korea, which entered to the super-aged society in a very short period. Elderly care is a huge burden in our society. I wished to talk about the dilemma we face, through a guy who sent his mother to the sanatorium to protect his life and family.

Life is a series of choices. This film shows one of the most difficult choices in a clear but metaphorical way. We become immersed in the realistic imagery, until we feel like we are knocked on the head, as if we are watching a person standing precariously on the edge of a knife. If watching the film makes me feel pain and discomfort, it means that deep down I know that I have no right to point fingers. Between someone near the end of life and someone who must keep on living, who is the real sinner? KIM Kyeongbae
