Detailed description

The story of The Giving Tree is often interpreted as a tale about a devoted parent. But if we change the tree into a woman, it changes into a “patriarchal horror story.” The shift in genre doesn’t come from the blood that is splattered everywhere, but rather from human indifference to it. Ongoing generational exploitation adds the final touch to make this film a true horror movie. Will the newly born tree follow the human into the city? That’s a rhetorical question. NOH Gyeongmu
