The tale of two intertwining fates: that of a pig who has survived an epidemic and wants to become human, and that of a weary young man ‘Choi Jeong-seok’ who dreams of becoming an animal.

HUR Bumwook’s second feature-length animation vividly portrays the dark side of modern society with the director’s signature style. It combines the realities of pigs being buried alive due to disease with an army that is cut off from society and suffering from brutality. The audience is drawn into the film by the pig that becomes increasingly more human to survive, and Choi Jeongseok who kills his boss and escapes from his unit while becoming increasingly more beastly. Am I closer to the pig or Choi Jeongseok? How can we escape from this awful reality—by becoming a human or an animal? Through this film, HUR Bumwook may not be offering hope, but the chance to reflect on the reality of our own lives and our society without falling into despair.
