Synopsis

Why did the mother rabbit, who had abandoned her child and fled, suddenly return? And why did she exhibit the bizarre behavior of placing her child back inside her body? We set out to trace her steps and uncover the reason behind her actions.

Director's Comment

The twisted mother-child relationship is akin to a food chain. Within this chain, the daily and the non-daily coexist. The child intrudes upon the mother's daily life, transforming it into something non-daily. For the two entities to share a shared daily life, mutual understanding is essential—represented in the work through the act of 'consumption.'

Detailed description

What relationship do the mother and child have? Is it one-sided, where one carries the other in the womb for months, giving up her flesh and blood, and continuing to be devoted to the other even after they cut the umbilical cord and become a separate individual? In this grotesque tale, the mother rabbit abandons her child and runs away, but she returns and puts the child inside her own body. Presented as a news report broadcast, this animation explores female identity and the essence of a mother’s relationship with her child, a relationship that is at once mundane yet extraordinary. In showing the mother rabbit putting her child inside her own body, this animation paradoxically subverts the experiences of pregnancy, childbirth, and childrearing as experienced by a woman who has lost herself and become empty.
