At a crowded airport, Ahlam, a 14-year old mother, is running away from Baghdad, the only place she’s ever known. As she fights the shadows lurking around her, she reflects on her journey to reclaim her life.

The girl’s name “Ahlam” means “dream”. The flight attendants might be part of her dream. Her nightmare in an airport is full of unfamiliar people who glare with mean eyes, but the flight attendants make her smile. For Ahlam, the airport offers an escape from a violent past. Fear and courage go hand in hand together when we leave a familiar place and head somewhere unknown. This colorful and dynamic documentary condenses the storied life of a fifteen-year-old immigrant. It encourages all the Ahlams in the world to overcome the shadow of pain and make their dreams come true.
