Synopsis
While managing to get along in the animal world, a monkey named Aksim accidentally enters the evil forest, where human souls are haunting. In the evil forest where, it is said, souls of monkeys are gnawed and rot, the soul of a girl named Chun-ja comes into the body of Aksim. Following the memory of Chun-ja, Aksim shows a mental crack which makes him go to an irrevocable direction.
Director's Comment
I have been interested, quite a while, in French noir films when Alan De Long was at his best, and Japanese Yakuza films in the 1970s. In those films, there were always solitary protagonists who fight against his ill-fated relationship and sacrifice themselves at the end. I believed that the criminal world which is a concise cinematic space might be a poetic comparison to the human world. I wanted to represent this thought in my own animation. The first idea was a sentence; one day, something comes into the head of a monkey. One day, the soul of a girl named Chun-ja comes into the body of Aksim that adapted to the world of monkeys; it breaks Aksim’s life. That break leads Aksim to an irrevocable way of life. This is how this story starts.
