Synopsis
Someone has discovered an unknown tape which is revealed to the world. The people in the video are Dr. Kim Sang-duk and his grandson Johnson Kim who have set out to study a giant mushroom monster. In the past, Dr. Kim was lost in a remote forest in Korea where he fled from a giant mushroom. The encounter led him to research mushrooms, and decades later he was working as a mushroom biologist in the United States. As his retirement approached, Dr. Kim went in search of the mushroom monster, feeling that it was final destiny. Johnson Kim accompanied his grandfather as his assistant, hoping to become famous by posting the experience on SNS.
Director's Comment
This story came about from a desire to express the wounds of child sexual abuse which could not be cleansed. It was during the first year of university in 2010. I didn't want to bury the story, so four years later after I had finished my military service, this was the first film that I made. I created the effect of drawing with red blood on the skin to express the painful experiences as a wound. The movements of the camera show the twisted fairy tale inside the young boy's mind.
