Program Note

In a quiet forest, a man lies between statues of men that might be from Ancient Greece. His identity is hinted at by a hand that sweeps across the hips of a clean white statue. A small old television set in the middle of the grass is like a black box of the time he spent here. A long cable leads to the sea where a giant statue, its head broken and chest crumbling, lies underwater. The man can barely say a few words, but the viewer knows even before hearing his confession. The film uses an unusual style of direction to speak on behalf of a character and his emotions that had been suppressed for decades. LEE Kyunghwa
