Synopsis

In a dream-like landscape, a girl journeys through her past and present in search of her own Bluebird. Is she pursuing a mere shadow, or has this Bluebird long been soaring within her heart?

Program Note

The sun sets against the blue sky, and the clouds turn burning red. The girl in the tall grass ties her hair and appears to shine. There’s a bird with blue feathers and a golden sheen, similar to the girl’s clothing. A sky blue thread is wrapped around the bird’s foot. A poet sings of how the bird is the wind, the water, the light, and life itself. “You are the wind, I am the bird, and we promise to meet again someday.” The autobiographical poem by Ellis Ka-yin CHAN, mourning her sister’s suicide, is the basis for this animation. It is about remembering the departed and slowly coming to terms with their loss while cherishing their beautiful memory.
