Director's Comment

Looking through the perspective of a character who overlooks an individual caught in a situation with unclear issues and solutions, I wanted to comfort audience who find themselves in similar circumstances. Humans, despite selfish empathy and impractical dedication, are beings capable of consoling themselves.

Program Note

The middle-aged man lives in a messy room, drinking in loneliness and letting time pass by. After getting drunk and sleeping, he wakes up hungry and fills his bloated belly with food and more liquor. His life reeks of hunger and emptiness. Nobody visits him or welcomes him, but his refrigerator silently watches over him every day. He may not realize it, but he and the refrigerator take care of each other. When we hear the refrigerator’s story, we feel pity for the life of this man reeking of alcohol.
