Synopsis

Born and raised on the streets, a woman wrapped in layers of clothing begs in front of the "Happiness Department Store." She has never known love, and so she is always cold. No matter how many layers she puts on, the chill never leaves her. The year-end streets are loud and dazzling. People walk out of the store with shopping bags in both hands, their faces glowing with joy. The woman tries to enter the store too, but collides with someone rushing by and loses consciousness. She wakes up later in a pile of garbage outside the closed department store. Through a side door left open by mistake, she makes a sudden dash inside.

Program Note

A woman is trapped in the shadow of poverty, shivering in the cold. She is begging in front of a bustling department store. Her appearance is in stark contrast with the people consuming happiness in the flashy, noisy new year’s street, revealing the imbalanced mechanisms of modern society. A man whose body is covered with scars silently stares at her from nearby. The drama unfolds wordlessly in an urban landscape of anonymity, delicately capturing the fundamental want and desire for happiness in human existence.
