Synopsis

From days to seasons, seasons to years, an elderly couple drifts through a shared life within the walls they built together, slowly fading. But beneath the quiet routine lies an unspoken weight — a lifetime of pain absorbed in silence. When she is left alone, she must reckon with a life that was never quite her own, and a season that has yet to come.

Program Note

Unlike the trees stretching their branches in the spring air or flowers blooming in full, the daily life of an elderly couple in springtime is not particularly remarkable. Small complaints and irritations pass between them, but these are likely nothing more than routines repeated since long ago. Silence more than words, and occasional bickering, fill the space between them — and yet, through all of it, the two have walked a long life together. Then, suddenly, one of them is gone forever, and the space left behind for the one who remains is nothing like it was before. But life goes on; the seasons turn, and spring comes again. As the story unfolds, the space reshapes itself with fluid grace, and time flows quietly beneath it all — and in this way, animation captures the life of a twilight hour.
