Synopsis
For Shahar (30), the world sounds different. He suffers from Misophonia, a disorder that transforms everyday sounds like chewing or honking into a torture of rage and anxiety. The condition has already alienated him from his family and now threatens his relationship with his partner. The film follows his desperate, unsuccessful search for a cure, leading him to seek refuge in the silence of the desert town of Yeruham. But it is there that he will encounter the most jarring noise of all.

Program Note
A portrait of the precarious daily life of a misophonia sufferer who reacts with extreme sensitivity to even the faintest sounds. The meticulously crafted soundscape draws general audiences directly into the protagonist's auditory world, generating visceral empathy. The acoustic pressure the protagonist endures is rendered on screen through a combination of rotoscoping's distinctively lifelike movement and 2D drawing, capturing the finest gradations of sensory experience and overload. The film moves beyond one character's sensory suffering to express, through the dimensionality of sound and visual aesthetics, the depths of disconnection and struggle experienced within relationships with others.
