Program Note
A goat who is always cheerful, and a tiger who is perpetually listless and lethargic — the two share a zoo together. A fairy tale, you ask? No — this is actually a real situation that was covered in the news not long ago. The goat is not afraid of the tiger, nor does the tiger pounce and devour the goat; instead, the goat willingly approaches the tiger who has lost his zest for life, and the two become friends. Hard to believe, perhaps, but animation renders this situation with considerable charm and warmth. And somewhere in the watching, the story begins to feel like a fable — a message of peace for those worn down by war. One can only hope that it truly is.
