Synopsis
[A Bird’s Wish] is an award-winning short film about a bird whose deepest dream is to become a mother. She longs to lay an egg, but while the branches around her fill with the chirping of newborn chicks, her own nest remains painfully empty. As she embarks on a journey of medical tests and fertility treatments, she is drawn into a physically and emotionally grueling process, where her longing for motherhood is pushed to its limits. How much will she sacrifice, and what challenges will she endure, to finally become a mother?

Program Note
A richly layered work depicting the ordeal of infertility faced by a jewel-adorned pair of birds on their journey to becoming parents. The female bird, whose body and soul are gradually hollowed out by cold needles, clinical examinations, and the pain of loss, stirs an analog empathy through her shifting textures. At the end of despair, as the two birds hold each other close, new life finally awakens — and warm sunlight wraps around them. Drawing from the director's own autobiographical experience and rendered with the devotion of handcraft, the film tenderly captures both the profound desire to become a mother and the trials that path entails. A work that carries comfort and hope for all parents still fighting their own difficult battles.
