Synopsis

Inside an eyeball-shaped abandoned factory, two pigeons risk everything for love and freedom. Captured through raw, expressive hand-drawn lines, their tragic romance unfolds against an iron-barred window—a desperate struggle for light and pure emotion amidst the debris of the industrial age.

Program Note

An abandoned factory and pigeons — this combination alone seems enough to drape the world in a dark and foreboding atmosphere. Yet within the neglected ruin, something gradually begins to stir: the will to live, and a desperate struggle to keep another alive. It is the raw, vigorous strokes of rough line drawing that are able to fully capture the wingbeats of two pigeons surging toward and plunging down at each other — inside and out. The title 'Eyeball' is at once the longing gaze of a pigeon looking toward one it cannot reach, and a shape that resembles the factory chimney keeping them apart. And perhaps it is also the eye of our own selves — trapped in the routines of daily life, running up against the walls of our ideals.
