Synopsis

This film centers on the fantasies and inner monologues of Li Yangqiao, a blasting miner trapped underground awaiting rescue. It draws the audience into the harsh and dangerous working conditions of miners, as well as their inner worlds. Every generation has its own "mine"—in the solitude of life, how do we discover our own sense of worth?

Program Note

A miner, trapped in pitch-black underground isolation after an unexpected explosion, recalls distant memories from within a darkness that barely allows him to hold his body upright. His desperate yearning to hold on to modest, precious everyday moments collides with a cruel reality and gives way to one last breathless struggle. The film weaves visions of the beloved people above ground between the character's mournful monologue and flashbacks, reflecting the pitiable psychology of a person standing at the edge. The fluid editing that moves between past and present, combined with surreal aesthetic elements, pulls the audience into the confined underground space and draws them deep into the character's tragedy.
