Program Note

A father who loses both his home and his daughter to fire in a single moment stays behind in his hometown, slowly rebuilding the ash-covered forest. But the crushing weight of past trauma drives him to drink, and his daughter's apparition drifts around him before vanishing into nothing. The suffocating grief surrounding the character is visualized through the deep texture of ink, while the contrast between vibrant color and ink's tactile quality elegantly renders the father's sorrow and his love for his daughter. A lyrical drama that sensuously captures the tender compassion that blooms within the pain of loss.
