Synopsis
The animated short film 'jam' is a deeply personal work born from the director's own experience with family caregiving, following a father who suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and a mother who devotedly supported him. The title 'jam' symbolizes the conflicting emotions in family life: the 'congestion' of a life with no escape, the 'sticky' weight of anxiety, and the 'sweet relief' found in a mother's resilience.

Program Note
Jam is made by gently crushing the fruit, adding sugar, and stirring slowly over a medium-low heat. A fisherman who heads out to sea and returns with his catch, a heavily pregnant wife at home making jam, a seaside village that holds them both — their days could not be more peacefully ordinary. The director distills his own experience — a father who collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage, a mother who tends to him — into the object and word that is jam. A life gently bruised but never broken; in the unhurried, simmering rhythms of the everyday, the sweetness of jam and of life quietly seep through. The production process — printing 3D backgrounds, then hand-drawing characters and objects over them with stencils, rubber stamps, and colored pencils before scanning them again — resembles the labor of making jam itself. Savor it slowly.
