Program Note
Two men meet on a single piece of meat floating in a bowl of ramen. The fleeting sense of strange solidarity gives way to starkly divergent behavior between the two. Set in the isolated space atop a piece of meat in a bowl, the film boldly lays bare human desire beyond mere survival. Within a completely static frame, the man's exaggerated actions are rendered all the more grotesque, amplifying the sense of the bizarre. By transforming an everyday, intimate object into a moment of shipwreck-like distress, the film casts a piercing gaze into the depths of human selfishness and greed.
