Synopsis

After the destruction of her eggs, a female swan surrenders to death... If time could be reversed, might reality itself be rewritten?

Director's Comment

In 2021, I read an article about a swan in a British village that died of a heartbroken heart attack after losing her eggs.

In 2022, I planned an animation based on it.

In 2023, I lost my son, who was less than two months old.

In 2024, I returned to the story and reworked it. The heart of that swan, who lost her eggs, was now my own.

Program Note

A pair of swans nesting beneath a bridge imagine an ordinary future with the chicks not yet born to them. What is, for someone, nothing more than a fleeting prank or a moment's accident becomes, for another, an irreversible loss — and in that instant, the film portrays the deep helplessness and pain felt before a life one could not protect. The warmth of life shared while incubating the eggs, and the coldness left behind where that warmth once was, make us look again at the film's title. The time spent imagining ""what if,"" even while knowing nothing can be undone, feels like an attempt to hold, once more, a warmth that has already been lost.
