Synopsis

One day, Mom splits into two. They look identical — it’s impossible to tell which one is real. When her son starts saying strange things, she grows anxious and irritated. “Then get rid of one,” she tells him. But which one should he choose? Why did she divide in two? Who’s really broken — the mother, or the son?

Program Note

A son begins to see his mother as two separate people. Rather than drawing a line between reality and fantasy, the film uses this strange premise to trace a psychology in which, within a relationship, a person can no longer be seen through a single face alone. The conversation that unfolds around the everyday yet confined space of a dinner table keeps our focus on the characters' relationship and its subtle shifts in emotion, steadily building psychological tension. The split reads not as a collapse, but as a way the mind creates for itself to endure a tangle of complicated feelings.
