Program Note
Beyond the frame of "photography as the art of capturing a fleeting moment," here is a man tracing the life of wildflowers. The animated documentary The Man Who Photographs Flowers turns its lens on the stubborn passion of an artist who has spent a lifetime recording flowers, capturing the wondrous moment where art and nature meet. Thanks to its blend of live action and animation, even the microscopic world of wildflowers feels vividly alive. Rather than dazzling technical flourish, it's the artist's back, quietly pressing the shutter again and again, that makes us reconsider what it truly means to love something with sincerity. For those of us worn down by the complexity of city life, the story of nameless wildflowers blooming and fading offers, in itself, a gift of deep comfort and a quiet moment of reflection.
