Director's Comment

Solo-Production Short Film created with 3D BG modeling/rendering with 2D character cel animation. The overall tone is crafted to be warm and gentle, transitioning into a striking contrast of light and shadow as the story unfolds. Sunlight functions not merely as a background element, but as a secondary character in its own right, creating an engaging harmony with the main cat character. To seamlessly blend the 3D backgrounds with the 2D cartoon-style cat, the texturing, lighting, and compositing workflows were uniquely customized.

Program Note

Light is the true protagonist of this film. The palette begins in the warm glow of a full afternoon sun, sinks into deep, dark blue, and finally rises again into brilliant gold. In a running time of barely two minutes, the film captures the entire arc a single day's light traces from start to finish. Against a clean, uncluttered 2D design, an adorably rendered cat character comes alive with buoyant, fluid animating, breathing energy into every scene. Perhaps that's why what might otherwise be a wistful story — the small, desperate effort to hold on to something disappearing — unfolds instead in a consistently lighthearted rhythm. Everyone has one of these, somewhere.
