Synopsis

Charlie is a lonely girl who spends her days playing with her little brother, Will. One day, Will disappears, and Charlie enters strange forest to look for him. There, reality and imagination start to mix together. As the line between dream and truth breaks down, Charlie finally faces what is real.

Director's Comment

This film is not only about one girl, but about the loneliness we all feel. In our solitude, we build small worlds to stay safe, but when they break, only silence and sadness remain. The film visualizes that quiet and shared emotion.

Program Note

True to its title, "Dream," the film gifts us a fantastical world rendered in classic stop-motion. Following our protagonist, Charlie, we encounter a range of vividly colored character designs that delight the eye. The lighting and scene transitions are striking, and the image of the moon that appears in the film's latter half lingers especially long in memory. Between its distinctive mise-en-scène and the movement of its characters, this film radiates the director's ambition for the craft of stop-motion.
