Synopsis

Spiders emerge from a man trapped in a web. One spider crawls into his ear and confronts the disturbing thoughts hidden within his mind.

Director's Comment

An experimental film exploring helplessness and obsessive attachment through the imagery of a spider's web and the nature of the spider itself. The web embodies the feeling of being trapped, unable to escape, while the spider's eight eyes and relentless legs symbolize an obsessive desire to cling to something at all costs. The film also explores the paradox of the human mind: despising horrifying thoughts while remaining unable to let them go, becoming trapped in an endless cycle of self-perpetuation.

Program Note

A sharp web of thread interlocks endlessly with the protagonist, drawing us down into a labyrinth of flesh. The film's bold use of a rarely-seen cutout technique lends real conviction to its shocking imagery. Over it, piano strings within the score surge forward with fierce momentum, carrying the audience along. In the end, the story loops back to its own refrain, and we catch our breath once more. Built through repetition and variation, the whole experience feels like watching a single piece of classical music rendered visible.
