Program Note

Amid faces that all look alike, what makes someone distinct are the marks and traces carrying a story of their own. Following a chance encounter, a growing closeness, and a gradual drifting apart, the film quietly reflects the marks that relationship leaves behind. Much like the traces left on the two people themselves as time passes, this film, too, is full of traces of careful, deliberate direction, all in service of capturing a subtle relationship. Without leaning on dialogue, and without overstatement, this film teaches us how richly cinematic moments can still be filled.
