Director's Comment

I wanted to tell the stories of ordinary people I encounter in my daily life, such as freelancers, office workers, and adults living with my parents. It is set in an absurd world called Deep Sea, but the situations the characters face are something that many people can relate to. I hope the animation will bring a small smile to the audience.

Program Note

A tired cat wanders in search of a wildly implausible studio apartment, while paycheck and freelance fees alike vanish from the bank account before they can even settle in. Come the new year, there's talk of quitting the job and finally making it — but reality rarely goes as planned. Deep Sea Survival Diary takes on the anxieties of young people navigating housing, money, work, and an uncertain future, filtered through absurd, harmless imagination. A web animation series that captures, in a light, familiar art style, the exhaustion and quiet heartbreak of getting through each day young.
