    KIM Seunghee

    KIM Seunghee is an animation filmmaker. Her two animated shorts, [Mirror in Mind (2014)] and [SimSim (2017)] were invited to distinguished international film festivals including Slamdance Film Festival, Ann Harbor Film Festival, DOK Leipzig, and Annecy International Animation Festival. In 2018, she was invited as an artist in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in France, with support for her residency provided by the Samsung Cultural Foundation. Her 2020 animated documentary short, [Tiger and Ox], was released as part of The New York Times Op-Docs series.

    LEE Kyunghwa

    LEE Kyunghwa is the editor and publisher of SEOUL&ANIMATOR. From 2004 to 2007, she worked on a variety of animation productions for theater and television. Since then, she has worked with numerous film festivals including the Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival (2008~2015), Busan International Film Festival (2008), Indie-AniFest (2009~present), Seoul Best of the Best Animation Festival (2015), and KOC! ANI (2018). Currently, she is the festival producer for the SIGGRAPH Asia 2020 Computer Animation Festival and the program coordinator for the Indie-AniFest Asia Road Competition.

    Song Shihyeong

    SONG ShiHyeong received his doctorate degree in cultural sociology at Korea University, and he is currently an associate professor in the Department of Entertainment at Gukje Cyber University. He was a TF researcher for the Film and Animation Program Development Project by the Happy School Culture and Art Education Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. He is a member of the board of directors for the Korean Independent Animation Filmmakers Association and an executive committee member for Indie-AniFest. Currently, he is serving as vice chairman of the Korean Association of Converging Humanities and the Korean Association on Social Quality. He was also a jury member for the Korea Creative Content Agency, Korean Film Council, and the Manhwa Criticism Contest held in 2019 and 2020 by the Korea Manhwa Contests Agency.

    KWON Seoyoung

    KWON Seoyoung is an illustrator and picture book author. She graduated from the Department of Animation at Korea National University of Arts. She was the creator of the web animation SIRU the Dessert and the picture book SIRU’s Night. She is active as an illustrator and concept artist in diverse areas including advertisements, music videos, album covers, and book jackets.

    OH Seoro

    OH Seoro is an animation director, animator, and designer. He created the short animations [Afternoon Class (2015)] and [(OO) (2017)] which were seen by audiences at numerous domestic and international film festivals including the Annecy International Animation Festival. His YouTube channel OSRO has 430,000 subscribers and presents a wide range of work.

    HONG Junpyo

    HONG JunPyo is an animation director and the CEO of Studio Roomer. He graduated from the Department of Animation in the School of Film, TV and Multimedia at Korea National University of Arts where he also became a lecturer. In 2013, he received the Midnight Flight Award at Indie-AniFest for his short animation [Across the Wind]. Since then, he has managed his animation studio, and he has been active in the creation of animated works. Currently, he is directing the feature-length animation [Taeil] to be released in 2021.

    SONG Lackhyun

    SONG Lackhyun is an animation producer and researcher who is active in project planning and research to foster the growth of Korean animation as a cultural sphere and industry. In 1997, he was a host for STUDIO BOOM BOOM, Tooniverse’s animation information program. In 1999, he made the seven-part special documentary [40 Years of Korean Animation] which received the Best Korean Cable TV Program Award. In 2012, he was the producer for the theatrical animation [Speckles: The Tarbosaurus 3D] which became the second highest-ranking Korean animation in box office history. He is also the author of books including 「ANI SCHOOL」 and 「Japanese Anime Movie: 50 Years’ History」

    Jinny Hyejin CHOO

    Majored in Animation and Illustration and received an MFA in Art and Film from the Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia, and Film, Chung-Ang University, Seoul in Korea and a Doctorate in Animation Theory and Contents Producing from the same university in 2015. She is a guest professor at School of Film, TV & Multimedia, the Korea National University of Arts. Beginning with Pucheon International Student Animation Festival in 2000, she was involved in Seoul International Cartoon Animation Festival, Gwacheon SF Film Festival, and is currently working for SIGGRAPH ASIA 2020 as the conference chair and Indie-AniFest as a programmer. She has studied on the possibility of Integrated Art Therapy through animations, as she has performed animation therapy workshops for children, teenagers and adults since 2010.

    Han Jiwon

    HAN Jiwon graduated from the Department of Design at Seoul Art High School and the Department of Animation at Korea National University of Arts. Her short film [Kopi Luwak (2010)], which was made at the university, received the Star of Indie Grand Prize at Indie-AniFest and marked the beginning of her filmmaking career. In 2015, she released the feature-length animated omnibus film [Clearer than You Think]—a compilation of her short films [Kopi Luwak], [On the Way to School], [Lucky Me], and [Say You Love Me]. In 2016, she published the 70th episode of the webtoon 「Facing Piano」. From November 2017 to January 2019, she published the 10-part web animation series [The Recipe Given to Daughter]. Since then, she has directed the animated portions of the KAKAO TV web drama [Amanza].

    NA Giyong

    NA Giyong is an educator and researcher of animation at Chungkang College of Cultural Industries. He serves as the director and president of Future Art. As part of the first generation of the digital animation era, he took part in numerous creative and commercial projects, including his films [SUBWAY] and [Lost Box]. He received the Best Director Award at the first Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival in 1995, was selected for competition in the 1996 Ottawa International Festival, and was invited for screening at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival. He was a founding member and former president of the Korean Independent Animation Filmmakers Association, and he is also the author of 「The Blooming of Korean Animation: A 30-year History」.

    MO Eunyoung

    Programmer MO Eunyoung majored in film theory and animation theory. She was a writer for EBS programs such as Cinema Paradiso and Anitopia as well as for numerous film columns in magazines and daily newspapers such as FILM2.0, DVD2.0, and KINO. MO Eunyoung has also worked as a programmer for Korean Film Archive Cinematheque KOFA for nine years, since it first opened. She currently works as a programmer and a programming consultant for events such as Indie-AniFest, the Jeju Film Festival.

    PARK Jiyeon

    PARK Jiyeon made her debut with the 2005 short animation Instant Memory. Thereafter, she made the films [The Things She Can’t Avoid in the City, Camels, Skin and Mind], and [Ghosts]. She was the assistant director for the feature-length animation [The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow] and the art director for [Ireesha, The Daughter of Elf-king], both made by Studio Nowornever.

    Ellen Y.D. KIM

    Ellen Y.D. KIM is the chief programmer of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN). She majored in aesthetics and cultural studies. She first began working in film in the late ‘90s at a cinema society called Culture School Seoul. Starting in 2001, she worked as a programmer at BIFAN for 4 years. After gaining experience in various film-related fields including film markets, production companies, and film acquisition, she returned to the film festival circuit in 2016 and has been working as a programmer since then. She produced [Cry Woman (2002)], a film that premiered in the Un Certain Regard Competition at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival; and [Hannan (2011)], which won the best new director award at the 2012 Taipei Film Festival. She also worked as a co-producer for the feature film [Night and Day (2008)] directed by HONG Sang Soo.

    PARK Jaeok

    PARK Jaeok is an animation director. He majored in animation at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. He received an award from the Cannes Film Festival in 2008 for his short animation [STOP], and he co-directed the theatrical feature [What Is Not Romance (2010)]. While working at the animation studio FunnyFlux, he directed over 100 episodes of the animated TV series [Katuri]. Currently, he is the CEO of the animation studio Anihall where he is also an animation director. In addition, he is the author of the picture book 『The Dust Giant (2020) 』 published by Wisdomhouse.

    SUH Yong-chu

    Yongchu SUH is an animation artist whose work has received awards and invitations to numerous festivals, such as Hiroshima International Animation Festival, Fantoche International Animation Film Festival, Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival, and Seoul International New Media Festival, as well as art shows at the Hammer Museum, Seoul Museum of Art, Platform-L Contemporary Art Center, Korean Film Archive, and other institutions. Suh received her PhD in animation theory from Chung-Ang University, her MFA in experimental animation and integrated media from the California Institute of the Arts, and her BFA in animation from the School of Visual Arts in New York where she graduated with honors. She is currently an assistant professor at Konkuk University in Seoul, Korea.

    HUH Suyoung

    HUH Suyoung graduated from Hanyang University Design College and majored in animation production at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. She made the short animations [Buy One Get One Free (2015)] and [Incomplete Woman (2020)] and won the Animated Web Series Prize at Indie-AniFest for her web animation [My Best Friend BJ].

    HWANGBO Saebyul

    HWANGBO Saebyul earned a BFA in animation and an MFA in moving image and film at Konkuk University. Her films including [Rubout (2008)], [Viewpoint (2011)], [Defragmentation (2014)], and You Are My Sunshine (2016). As a producer at JTBC’s digital studio, Studio Lululala, she has produced [Start from Kiss (2018)], [Bonana Seasons 1 and 2 (2019)], [My Life Is Legend (2019)], and [Failed Love Story (2020)]. She is currently working as a drama pre-production producer.

    KIM Hyoyong

    KIM Hyoyong studied design at Hongik University and went abroad to the California Institute of the Arts where he majored in experimental animation. While teaching and researching 3D animation, he also earned a PhD in computer science. He made the animation [Canned Fish] and authored the book 『A Theory of Animation Technology』. In addition to animation, he participates in a wide range of content productions. He is currently the president of the Animation Society of Korea, a board member of the Korea Creative Content Agency, and a lecturer teaching the next generation of students at Hansung University School of ICT Design.

    DONG Minho

    DONG Minho graduated from Kyunghee University College of Music and is currently a composer and music director for TV dramas, films, animations, and games. His animation credits include [Pororo the Little Penguin], [Miniforce], and [Secret Jouju].

    RAH Jung-in

    RAH Jung-in graduated from the Korean Academy of Film Arts in 2007. She directed [Young-suk (2020)], [Cats Are All Around in Our Mind (2014)], [14 Beat (2009)] and other short films and produced numerous music videos. She is currently working for ROI VISUAL.

    LEE Yunjin

    LEE Yunjin is the CEO of INEWCOMPANY, the studio that planned and produced the feature film [Warning: Do Not Play (2019)]. Currently, she is the executive producer for the OTT series [Tastes of Horror (streaming in September 2021)], a webtoon and film collaboration. She has produced a variety of works including commercial films, diversity films, web dramas, musicals, and theater productions.

    CHON Seung-il

    CHON Seung-il graduated from Seoul National University College of Fine Arts. He is a director of animation and automata at Automata Factory. Chon Seung-il created the independent animations      [Tomorrow Human (1994)], [Pencil Story (1995)], [Circulation (1996)], [We Love You (1997)], [MIMESIS TV (2000)], [Cosmic Tree (2003)], [Cold Blood (2004)], [Memory of May (2007)], [My War (2013)]. His animation works have been shown at world-renowned film festivals including the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Tehran International Short Film Festival, Rome Independent Film Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, International Short Film Festival Berlin, International Festival of Animated Films AniFest Trebon, Hiroshima International Animation Festival, Busan International Film Festival, JEONJU International Film Festival, and Seoul Independent Film Festival. Currently, he is making a documentary animation titled [The Story of Geumjeonggul] about the genocide and massacre of Geumjeonggul in Goyang City.
