Synopsis
The main characters are getting ready to leave the island.At dusk, they heard warnings about the island from a grandmother who lives withthem. Early the next morning, when they try to escape the island safely withthe coins they received from grandmother, they are chased from the fog on theisland by mistake. The main characters, mother and child have a tough game on abridge connecting the island to the land. After the struggle, the motherrealized that child’s existence was the fog and an illusion. She letgo of her child and left the island.
Director's Comment
I made the story based onthe tale of Samsin Halmae, which is passed down by tradition and comes from anisland called Yeongdo. Thinking about Samsin Halmae who loved the provincialpeople but bullied them when they were leaving the island, I illustrated thetwo meanings that the island has for the main character.
