Synopsis

This animation is based on the poem<The Night of Singing Stars> written by IM Hwa to mourn the death of LEESangchun. LEE was IM’s contemporary and a member of the Korean Federation ofProletarian Art who died at the young age of 28. He was an actor and artist whojoined the movement for Korean independence at a young age, but he ended hisown life under the repressive Japanese regime. Perhaps the reality of his storyis reflected in the deaths of workers in the present day.

Director's Comment

LEE SangChoon reflected a different aspect of his era than the nationalist movement,being more interested in the labor movement of his times. The issues thatconcerned him have not changed greatly since then and are still relevant in thepresent day. This animation offers a modern reinterpretation of IM Hwa’s poem<The Night of Singing Stars> which mourns the death of LEE Sang Choon.
